19th August 2015 – New Tongtai SD-616 Drill Machine

July & August were a busy time at Faraday while we made significant changes to our drill profile department to accommodate our new Tongtai SD-616 drill machine.

The project involved the relocation of the Test & Final Inspection department to allow expansion of the shop floor area to accommodate the new kit. The maintenance department worked hard to achieve the changes and run in all the necessary services for the relocated existing kit and the new machine.

Due to increasing complexity of board design we had a need to increase drill capacity as our existing two Lenz machines were running almost 24/7. This investment takes the number of drill spindles from 7 to 13, hugely increasing our capacity.

Featuring the latest Sieb and Meyer CNC 84.00 controller the new Tongtai machine has Westwind 160,000 rpm high speed spindles for improved accuracy and hole wall quality and is capable of drilling down to 0.1mm. The machine is also astonishly fast, reducing drill run times by up to 1/3rd without compromising quality.

We are pleased to make this significant investment at our plant in Washington which means we can continue to offer our customers the level of service they require. The new machine will contribute considerably to maintaining on time delivery as well as improving quality.

November saw the delivery and installation of three new items of kit to significantly increase production capability within our Drill/Profile Department.

Pictured are the two items from Tongtai Machine Co Ltd, Taiwan.  The first is our CVC 700 V-scoring machine with auto-loading system and IMS capability.  The second is our TRM 622 6 spindle routing system which gives signifcant capacity improvements helping us to meet customer delivery dates.

To accompany these we have also installed a Pluritec Vista x-ray drill machine for multilayer product inspection and tooling.  This machine further adds to our multilayer capability and increases layer counts.

Whilst many UK PCB companies of our size are becoming little more than brokers for Far East manufactured product, Faraday maintains a committment to the industry in the UK.  This new kit demonstrates our desire to maintain a UK manufacturing base and secure jobs in the industry both now and in the future.

Faraday Circuits Launches New IMS Capability

28th August 2013

Faraday Printed Circuits Ltd, of Washington, Tyne & Wear, United Kingdom, today announced the acquisition of a Tongtai Machine Co. CVC 700 CNC Auto-loading V-Scoring System as part of a continued investment programme to further strengthen the company’s technology capabilities.

Increased Capacity

Due in late September the machine will further expand the capacity and technology levels of the Washington plant which currently supplies to customers across the UK, Europe and Asia

With Lubricating Mist as well as Chilled Air cooling systems, producing superb quality V-Scoring on aluminum panels, it will enable Faraday to further compete in the rapidly expanding LED lighting market by adding IMS (insulated metal substrate) material as a standard capability, alongside multilayer, PTH double sided, flexible, flex-rigid and conventional pcb manufacture. LED lighting uses IMS for heat management due to its thermal efficiency.

Jamie Pearson, Managing Director, commented ‘We are delighted to be adding this capability and offering it to our customers. The demand for low energy LED lighting is growing and by further expanding into the market we are strengthening our UK manufacturing operation and helping to secure the jobs that it supports.’

UL Canada Approval

Faraday is pleased to announce the addition of UL Canada to our existing suite of quality approvals. This rigourous procedure also provides cross-certification with the US as shown on the shared recognition mark borne by our PCB's.  Sales Director, Steve Spence commented "Achieving this approval is testament to the quality of our products.  This further expands our ability to support our customers in their endeavours supplying to worldwide markets."
